My Third Demand for Retraction

In September of 2004, I sent this third and final letter to JAMES LLOYD and SUSAN LENOX Doing Business As CHRISTIAN MEDIA.

From:

LINDA KRISTICH

(ADDRESS REDACTED)

Jacksonville, Oregon, 97530

September 20, 2004

To: JAMES LLOYD and SUSAN LENOX dba CHRISTIAN MEDIA

Third demand for retraction pursuant to ORS § 31.215; and the general laws of the State of Oregon.

Dear Mr. Lloyd and Ms. Lenox:

Pursuant to Oregon Revised Statute § 31.215; and the general laws of the State of Oregon, this letter shall constitute a third demand for a retraction as specified below pursuant to the statutes and general laws cited above.

This letter is being served on you in order to supplement the previous demands for a retraction of any mention of me in your article titled "The Rise and Fall of Craig Portwood" and the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood" which is located on your CHRISTIANMEDIARESEARCH.COM website located on the internet at http://www.christianmediaresearch.com/wormwood.html

In paragraph 20 of the article "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood" , you refer to me as Craig's "paramour". The dictionary defines the word Paramour as:

paramour

\Par"a*mour\, n. [F. par amour, lit., by or with love. 1. A lover, of either sex; a wooer or a mistress; one who takes the place, without possessing the rights, of a husband or wife; -- used of a man or a woman.

This statement is false.

In paragraph 28 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd accused Craig of sitting on a bed with a minor child, smoking Marijuana. Then you made the statement that "Linda Kristich’s young son was present with her and Craig in a Midwest motel." Implying by innuendo that there was impropriety. This is a sleazy attempt to attack not only Craig's reputation, but my fitness as a mother and illustrates your lack of regard for the child involved.

In paragraph 30 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd stated: "Linda Kristich herself suggested the child may have been molested during her divorce proceeding against her former husband James Kristich. Unfortunately, unfair accusations of this nature are commonplace in nasty divorce proceedings." This is completely untrue, and no evidence exists to support this accusation.

Attempting to involve my children in the dispute by your insinuation that my son has been molested by his father is unconscionable.

In paragraph 37 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd wrote "Did James Kristich, Linda Kristich’s former husband (a man who isn’t even a Christian) and a person that has never had any contact with Christian Media, lie under oath during his divorce proceedings concerning these things?" There is absolutely no evidence which would support such a statement.

In paragraph 43 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd described a "courtship between Craig and Linda Kristich". This is yet another unsubstantiated accusation.

In paragraph 58 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd stated: "the couple moved back to Jacksonville Oregon where, as of this writing, they are NOW living together a few miles away from my home. However, it seems they forgot about the `getting married’ part of the relationship. Incredibly, even though Craig and Linda have now been cohabitating together for many months without the benefit of marriage...". This implies that there is impropriety, even though there is no proof of impropriety.

In paragraph 60 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd stated "They then entered into the "Harmony Motel Phase" of the non-affair while the legal wrangling occurred in the couple’s efforts to coerce half of Linda’s then husband’s substantial inheritance from his late mother’s estate". This is a complete falsehood. You have no proof of such an event, because none exists.

In paragraph 68 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd stated that Craig Portwood is "backed by Linda Kristich’s fiscal support". No proof is offered which would justify that statement. It is unsupported by any facts.

In paragraph 74 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd stated that Linda Kristich is inhabited by "the spirit of evil". This statement is false.

In paragraph 76 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd stated that "Craig left Christian Media to meet Linda Kristich in a Midwestern motel."

In paragraph 106 of the article titled "The Wrath of Mr. Wormwood", James Lloyd stated that "Craig Portwood (and his "non" significant-other Linda Kristich) are liars". This statement is false.

As stated previously, pursuant to Oregon Revised Statute § 31.215; and the general laws of the State of Oregon, this letter shall constitute a third demand for a retraction as specified above pursuant to the statutes and general laws cited above.

I do not understand why you, James and Susan continue to antagonize me with accusations which can be easily demonstrated to be malicious, false, unprivileged, and defamatory, when all I have done is asked you to stop.

There are many other portions of this article I could cite, but it grieves me to know what has become of you. You make so many sleazy accusations not only against me, but my young son as well.

Have you so much hatred in your heart and so little compassion for the innocent that you would make such statements about my little boy? What has he ever done to offend you?

I ask again what have I ever done to harm you?

If my name is not retracted in a timely manner, the communication you receive will most likely be from an attorney.

Sincerely,
